The Ebonyi State Government, on Monday, condemned the killing of a Point of Sale, POS, operator in the Ohaukwu local government Area and called on security operatives to intensify efforts in curbing such heinous crimes.
The Special Assistant to the governor on internal security, Ogbonna Tobias Oge said the incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, saw the brutal murder of the POS operator, Mr Louis Enoshi in his house.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and emphasized the need for security personnel to take immediate action to prevent such atrocities from happening again.
He urged security agencies to step up surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of the senseless crime.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the community members and security forces to ensure the safety and security of all residents in Ohaukwu local government.

โI suggest that the state government should consider enacting a law to empower local vigilantes to carry arms to better protect their communities.
โThis move, I believe, would provide an additional layer of security and deter criminal elements from carrying out violent acts.
โAs investigations into the tragic incident continue, I urged the residents of Umuagara Community and the entire Ohaukwu LGA to remain on edge, hoping for swift justice and increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the futureโ he said.
