Human Rights Activist, Aisha Yesufu, has mocked the former Minister for State and Employment, Festus Keyamo, over the drama which ensued at the Senate on Monday during his screening.
OsunDailyNG earlier reported that the Senate exploded into a rowdy session when a Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Darlington Nwokocha, moved a motion for the suspension of Keyamoโs ministerial screening.
Nwokocha accused Keyamo of disrespecting the 9th National Assembly and accusing the last Assembly of being corrupt.
Nwokocha said during the administration of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Keyamo was invited to explain a Special Public Works programme, but he didnโt honour the invitation.
Nwokochaโs motion was immediately seconded by his colleague from Abia-South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe.
The Senate President subsequently subjected the motion to a voice vote, but the lawmakers were divided on the matter.
Amid heated argument between the lawmakers, Bamidele called for a closed-door session, and Akpabio sustained the move.
Reacting to the development, Aisha Yesufu, in a post shared on Twitter, faulted the way Keyamo reacted to his ministerial nomination.
While making a mockery of him, Aisha said Keyamoโs name was an afterthought on President Bola Tinubuโs ministerial list, adding he was very desperate to be among the ministers.
She wrote: โFestus Keyamo disgraced himself. He was an afterthought on that list and yet was celebrating like a child that got its first ice cream. The desperation to serve is unbelievable.โ
In a subsequent tweet, Aisha Yesufu shared an old post where he called out Buhari and Keyamo over their inability to account for the 774 000 jobs.
She wrote, โFor those of you that have forgotten about the 774k jobs and Keyamoโ
