The Kebbi State Government has allocated N50 million for the refurbishment of firefighting trucks, with three trucks already refurbished and handed over to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
This initiative, approved by Governor Nasir Idris, aims to enhance the stateโs firefighting capabilities.
A demonstration of the refurbished trucksโ firefighting abilities was carried out at the Ministry of Works and Transport headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, showcasing the improved machinery to onlookers.
The Commissioner of the Ministry, Abdullahi Umar Faruq Muslim, stated that prior to this effort, the Ministry had only one serviceable firefighting truck.
He said Governor Nasir Idrisโs approval for the refurbishment of five out of ten dormant vehicles has significantly strengthened the stateโs firefighting capacity.
Muslim stated the role of a technical engineer from Jos who provided expertise in reviving the vehicles, ensuring their operational efficiency.
The Permanent Secretary for Works and Transport, Arc. Saโad Sakaba expressed gratitude to the governor for approving the refurbishment, which has revitalized the Fire Service Department and improved its ability to respond to fire outbreaks.
Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, praised Governor Nasir Idris for his impactful development projects in the state.
He emphasized Kebbiโs transformation into a hub for infrastructural construction, with the refurbishment of firefighting vehicles being a testament to the governorโs commitment to the welfare of the people.
Mallam Bashir Bello, the Director of the Fire Service Department, expressed profound appreciation to the governor and the Commissioner for Works for their efforts in revitalizing the firefighting department and enhancing its operations.
