Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has pledged to ensure regular payment of all allowances for healthcare workers in the state.

The pledge was in line with measures to retain skilled medical professionals, according to a statement released on Monday by the governorโ€™s Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris.

The statement said the governor made the commitment during a dinner held in honor of 13 indigenous medical doctors who recently graduated from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

Idris assured the healthcare workforce of his determination to prioritize the health sector, recognizing its crucial role in preserving human lives.

โ€œI will do my best to increase doctorsโ€™ and other medical staff allowances so that the gap in allowances between the state and the federal government is filled to enable them to stay at home and work for their people.โ€

Idris emphasized the administrationโ€™s dedication to supporting medical students, announcing an increase in scholarship allowances from N30,000 to N50,000 to facilitate their academic pursuits.

The governor further pledged to construct standard hospitals across the four emirates in the state, to enhance the accessibility of healthcare facilities and alleviate the suffering of citizens grappling with various illnesses.

Health Commissioner Alhassan Yauri commended the governor for organizing the reception for the graduating medical doctors, hailing it as a historic event in the history of Kebbi State.
