Abubakar Gambo, a Director in the Kano State Government Service, has been detained at the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the State Police Command.
The Commissioner of Police, CP, Kano State Command, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said Gambo, the Director of Administration and General Services in the Ministry of Water Resources, was arrested alongside two others for allegedly misappropriating millions of Naira through illegal auction of government properties.
Speaking to newsmen, Gumel said those arrested alongside Gambo are Baba Yahaya, an Assistant Secretary, Administration, and Nuhu Mansir, a former manager of Karefa Irrigation Scheme in Tudun Wada Local Government Area.
The police commissioner added that the suspects allegedly forged a letter authorizing auction of some high capacity water pumps and tanks, which he described as critical public assets.
“Everything is now under investigation, and we will soon, after our investigation, take the matter to court,” the CP said.
