Kano, Anambra, and Niger are states with the highest price of Automotive Gas Oil, popularly known as Diesel, in September 2023.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed this in the Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) Price Watch on Saturday.
Kano State (N967.78), Anambra State (N950.95) and Niger State (N950.55) represent states in Nigeria with the most expensive price of Diesel.
Meanwhile, the data showed that the top three lowest prices were recorded in the following States, namely, Bayelsa State (N840.16), Katsina State (N840.55) and Rivers State (N840.82).
Recall that the President of the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA), Mr Benneth Korie had raised the alarm over the continued rise in the price of Diesel and its effect on the Nigerian economy if the government fails to intervene.
Diesel was deregulated in 2009 with an initial price of N100 per litre; however, the price continued to increase.
Nigerians have witnessed a rising percentage price from N100 per litre in 2009 to an average of N890.80 per litre in September 2023.
