Kaduna State Govt Announces 65-Man Transition Committee

The Kaduna State government has put in place aย 65-man Transition Committee for the handover of power from Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the incoming administration of the Governor-elect, Senator Uba Sani.

OsunDaily News reports this was made known in a statement on Tuesday by Governor El-Rufaiโ€™s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye.

According to the statement, the committee will be chaired by the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Balarabe Abbas, who was also chairman of the Transition Committee in 2015 and vice-chairman in 2019 respectively, while the Permanent Secretary Cabinet and Political office, Nuhu Buzun, will serve as secretary to the Committee.

It added that the transition committee would soon be inaugurated.

The statement further explained that the incoming Senator Sani SUSTAIN manifesto is at the core governance agenda of the next administration.

According to the statement, the SUSTAIN manifesto will โ€œcontinue the progress recorded in the state since 2015,โ€ adding that โ€œthe committee will also arrange the ceremonies to usher in the new governmentโ€.

Bandits Abduct Schoolchildren In Kaduna

No fewer than 10 students have been abducted from the Government Secondary School, Awon School, in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday.

OsunDaily News reports that the incident was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement by the Kaduna Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.

According to him, the precise location of the incident is yet to be ascertained, as the school in question is a day secondary school.

He however said the State Government received a preliminary report from security agencies regarding the kidnap of the students.


The commissioner as well noted that further details were being awaited to clarify if the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere.
