The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has upheld the victory of Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party, LP, as the duly elected member representing the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituencyinto of Abia State.

The Appeal Court in Its ruling delivered on Friday, rejected the appeals filed by the former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji of the PDP, which challenged the ruling of the National Assembly election petition tribunal for upholding Aguochaโ€™s victory.

The Appellate Court held that the appeal from the PDP candidate lacked merit, dismissing it and upholding Aguochaโ€™s victory.

The Appeal Court also overturned the judgement of the election petition tribunal which had on September 6 September, 2023, sacked Amobi Ogah of the Labour Party, LP.

The Appeal Court disagreed with the tribunal on its ruling which declared the present Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejiocha winner.

The Appeal Court upheld Ogahโ€™s victory and dismissed Onyejiochaโ€™s case.

The rulings have turned the camps of Aguocha and Ogah to celebration grounds.

In Ohuhu, the hometown of Obi Aguocha, his friends and relatives celebrated his victory, saying that it was a victory for the Ohuhu clan which, according to them, had suffered 24 years of โ€˜rotational marginalizationโ€™.

Also at Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA, the hometown of Amobi Ogah, his kinsmen and supporters were seen jubilating, saying their son had surmounted his challenger and further registered the communityโ€™s name on the global political map by what they called a โ€˜total victoryโ€™

Amobi Ogah is the younger brother of the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah.
