No fewer than 50 people lost their lives and properties worth N215 million were destroyed in fire incidents in Jigawa State in 2023.

State Director of the Fire Service Directorate Ibrahim Gumel disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the commandโ€™s achievements.

He said the agency responded to 160 fire calls and 45 rescue calls from different parts of the state.

He added that 250 lives and property worth over N755 million were saved in 2023 across the state in fire, drowning and road accidents.

Gumel advised the general public to be careful while handling fire and electricity appliances, especially during harmattan.
