KRC Genkโs chairman, Peter Croonen, has asserted that promising Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare will not be sold during the upcoming January transfer window.
This statement comes in light of recent speculation linking Tolu Arokodare, 24, to several clubs in the English Premier League, highlighting the growing interest in his talents.
Arokodare has turned his fortunes around this season after a challenging start to his career at KRC Genk. His impressive performances have established him as a key player for the Limburg club, where he now stands as the top contributor in both goals and assists.
In just 22 appearances across all competitions, Arokodare has netted 14 goals and provided six assists, making him the highest-scoring Nigerian player in Europeโs major leagues so far this campaign.
As one of the standout performers for Genk, his name has surfaced in discussions about potential transfers to top clubs, including Fulham, and Turkish club Trabzonspor.
However, despite the clubโs historical reliance on transfer incomeโwhich has previously seen them part with key players like Paul Onuachu, Daniel Muรฑoz, and Joseph Paintsil during past January windowsโCroonen has maintained a staunch position regarding Arokodareโs future.
โThe intention is absolutely to keep him. And that will happen,โ Croonen emphasized in an interview with DAZN, clearly indicating that the club is committed to retaining their star striker for the immediate future.
In an exciting twist to his season, Arokodare capped off 2024 with a sensational performance against Royal Antwerp, scoring two goals in a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Bosuilstadion on Boxing Day.
This remarkable display not only solidified his status as the leagueโs top scorer but also showcased his vital role in KRC Genkโs ambitions as they navigate the competitive landscape of Belgian football.
