Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad has berated those shaming erstwhile president, Muhammadu Buhari for not weighing in on the chaos in the Niger Republic.
The initiator of #ArewaMeToo movement, Fakhuus Hashim had called out Buhari for remaining silent in Daura instead of wielding diplomatic measures to combat the situation in the West African country.
She wrote, “This may be the literal one time Nigeria has ever had a use for a Buhari to serve as a tool for diplomatic resolution to prevent any escalation with Niger. But being Buhari as ever, languishes in Daura in the company of his uselessness.”
Replying, Ahmad stated that it was stupid to think that Buhari has the power to carry out such an assignment in the embattled country.
He wrote, “Just because it is free to drag and insult Baba Buhari, but it shouldn’t make you so stupid to think that, as a former President, he has the power to carry out such assignments. It’s essential to know that even former Presidents also operate within established protocols for any official task or activity. Lastly, it shouldn’t be difficult to respectfully express your views and opinions, so avoid making baseless assumptions.”
