The Kelebe-Omu land owners association have petitioned President Bola Tinubu, the leadership of the National Assembly, Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke and all other stakeholders to call the Nigerian Army not to act in contempt of court.

The association recently obtained a Warrant of Possession directing them to acquire their land which has been under illegal possession by the Nigerian Army.

OsunDailyNG also recalled that the Kelebe-Omu land owners association had, on February 23, 2024, protested to the Osun State House of Assembly, demanding that the Nigeria Army obey the order of an Osun State High Court directing them to possess their lands.

The Osun Assembly Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, had during the protest assured the landowners that the Assembly would look into the matter.

The association made their petition known through Badmus Waheed Olaniyan during a press conference in Osogbo, on Thursday, on behalf of Amodu Akanbi.

The landowners association revealed that they were interested in peace and warned that the association would not hesitate to resort to protest if the Nigerian Army did not desist from its possession of their land.

โ€œWe are Peace-loving people and law-abiding citizens of Osun State, Nigeria, we are not interested in any loss of lives and properties and that is the reason behind our actions. If the disobedience of the Nigerian Army to the judgment of the court and the rule of law persists, we shall embark on a non-stop massive protest in Osun until we get our land back as mandated by the Court of law.

โ€œThe claim of appealing the judgment by the defendant after the eleventh month is a joke of the century. We have never received any appeal notice nor did our counsel receive any notice of appeal from any Court of competent jurisdiction. All actions taken after the January 10th, 2023 judgment of the High Court without appeal in the last one year were illegally taken by the defendant.โ€

โ€œWe want the public to know that men of the Nigerian Army have been allocating our land to individuals through the Post-Service Housing Development Limited for personal use. As we speak, shops, warehouses, commercial and residential buildings owned by individuals as unlawfully allocated by the Nigerian Army are on the said land,โ€ they lamented.
