The Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force, Kayode Egbetokun, has mourned the death of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
Kayode Egbetokun described the late General Lagbaja as a highly respected figure known for his tireless efforts in combating insurgency, armed bandits and violent extremism.
In a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP said Nigeria has lost a passionate soldier.
Egbetokun said, โThe Nigeria Police Force is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja on November 5, 2024.
โTo pay tribute, the Inspector-General of Police has cancelled led all non-essential personal and social engagements and non-urgent commitments for the next two days.
โGeneral Lagbaja was a highly respected figure, known for his tireless efforts in combating insurgency, armed banditry, and violent extremism. His dedication to the Nigerian Army and the nation earned him great admiration. The Inspector-Generalโs gesture reflects the deep respect and appreciation for General Lagbajaโs remarkable service.โ
The Police boss prayed to God to grant the family the courage to bear the loss. He also prayed for his soul to find eternal rest.
