President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali is optimistic the countryโs wrestlers will excel at the 2024 All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
Igali paid an unscheduled visit to the camp of the wrestlers in Yenagoa on Thursday.
The former Olympian was delighted with the level of performance in training.
โIโm really pleased with what I saw in training today, they look ready however, theyโre still room for improvement,โ Igali told NWF media team.
โIโve always said that athletes are as good as their training and I must applaud the officials who are working tirelessly to ensure the athletes represent the Nation optimally.โ
Also, head coach Akuh Purity expressed satisfaction with the reaction of the wrestlers to training so far since they started camping ahead of the African Games.
โTo be frank the Nigeria Wrestling Federation doesnโt wait for camp like this, weโve been training because we started our season a while ago so this camping is just for final preparation,โ Akuh stated.
โAnd I must that the athletes have been doing really well, the environment okay, the feeding is normal because one of the most important aspects we are careful about is the diet so weโre good to go.
โBy the grace of God with the level of our training and commitment and of course preparation like I said earlier Wrestling will win multiple gold for Team Nigeria at the African Games.โ
