The Asaoni elect, Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye has debunked his membership with the opposition APC in Osun State, noting that he was once a member but has since resigned his membership.
The Oba elect said it baffles him reading a congratulatory message signed by one Comrade Ibikunle Adediji on behalf of a group, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Network (BATCAN), claiming that he (Prince Adekanmi Abikoye) was a member of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and secretary of the group in Osun State.
“I read a congratulatory message signed by Comrade Ibikunle Adediji saying that I was the State Secretary of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Network(BATCAN) before my approval by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as the Asaoni elect. This is pure falsehood and untrue. It should be discarded.
“Let it be known that I had resigned my membership of APC through a resignation letter dated 2/4/2024. I am not a member of APC.
“Let me use this medium to convey my gratitude to the people’s Governor, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke, for displaying a spirit of true statesmanship by approving my appointment despite the fact that I was a member of the APC in Osun. This singular act shows that the Governor is very liberal and not ready to play politics with tradition.
“As I ascends the throne of my forebears, it’s my prayer that Governor Adeleke will continue to succeed and God will grant him sound health to continue to lead us.
The Oba elect also appreciate those who stood by him during the struggle. He particularly thanks Hon. Clement Akanni “Olohunwa”, member representing Ila federal constituency at the national assembly.
