The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, has said he was misquoted on the launch of a National Air Carrier.

OsunDailyNG reports that Kana said his statement on reviving a national carrier for the country was a vision that would be implemented if it would be favourable to the nation.

In a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, he stated that he remains dedicated to implementing the policy of President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, concerning the sector.

โ€œIt is with great honor and a deep sense of responsibility that I address you today. As we chart the course for the continued growth and development of Nigeriaโ€™s aviation and aerospace sector.

โ€œSince my inaugural statement on Monday at the hand-over ceremony, I have been inundated with inquiries about my reference to the revival of the National Carrier Project.

โ€œFor the avoidance of doubt I never said that there is a mandate to revive the botched Nigeria Air deal with Ethiopian airline. I received no such instruction. I was only referring to the general vision of the Administration to still consider a National Carrier Project if it is favourable to the country and under the guidance and directives of Mr. President and the Honourable Minister of Aviation. I hope this clarifies all the ambiguities surrounding my earlier statement on this issue,โ€ he said.

The Permanent Secretary assured the commitment of the ministry to taking the aviation sector to a greater height.

โ€œOn a personal note, I pledge absolute loyalty to the Honourable Minister and remain dedicated to working closely with him to drive the Ministryโ€™s agenda forward. Together, we will ensure that the future of aviation in Nigeria is bright, innovative, and reflective of the aspirations of our great nation,โ€ he added.
