The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has commended the men of the Armed Forces for their efforts in protecting the country.

Governor Mbah said the dedication to duty of Nigeria military deserves the gratitude of all citizens. He paid tribute to men and women of the military who died in the line of duty.

OsunDailyNG reports that the Governor stated this at Michael Okpara Square while laying a wreath in commemoration of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

โ€œTheir vigilance and sacrifices have not only safeguarded our sovereignty but also sustained the peace and security we enjoy in Enugu State.

โ€œWe remain secure because of their dedication to duty. From the jungles of Burma and Congo to the arid fields of South Sudan, and the war-torn streets of Liberia and Sierra Leone, our Armed Forces have always been an embodiment of valour, earning global respect for Nigeria.

โ€œLet us not forget the cenotaphs scattered across our nation, solemn reminders of the ultimate price paid by our heroes. Their courage and sacrifices compel us to extend love and support to the families of our fallen heroes, ensuring that their loss is not borne alone,โ€ he said.

Enugu State Governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to prioritizing the welfare of the military men in the state.

He further promised support for families of late military personnel in the state.

โ€œTo our retired and active servicemen and women, you are the pride of our nation, the bastion of our unity, and a symbol of our sovereignty.

โ€œOn this day of remembrance, I reaffirm our administrationโ€™s commitment to your welfare. Our support will complement the Federal Governmentโ€™s efforts, ensuring no family of a fallen hero is left in want.

โ€œThe wreaths we laid today (Wednesday) are more than ceremonial. They represent a pledge to provide a shoulder for grieving families and meet their material needs. This is how we, as a grateful people, honour your sacrifices.

โ€œTo our Armed Forces, we say thank you. Your bravery, dedication, and resilience will forever inspire us. Enugu stands united in celebrating your service and sacrifice,โ€ Governor Mbah added.
