Former Napoli midfielder, Marek Hamsik, has expressed his feelings regarding Victor Osimhenโ€™s transfer to Galatasaray, suggesting that there may have been non-football related factors involved.

Hamsik mentioned that he feels sorry to see Osimhen leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer.

Recall that Osimhenโ€™s move to Galatasaray on a season-long loan without an option to buy followed unsuccessful transfer attempts to Chelsea and Al Ahli.

This move provided Osimhen with the opportunity to return to regular first-team football after being frozen out of Napoliโ€™s squad due to his desire to leave the Italian Serie A side.

In response to Osimhenโ€™s departure, Napoli acquired the services of Romelu Lukaku and Hamsik is pleased with the clubโ€™s transfer decision.

He said, โ€œI am sorry Osimhen left, but itโ€™s probably not entirely related to football. I am not involved in this, and Napoli signed a valuable replacement. Lukaku is a top striker and can easily score 20 goals.โ€

Note that Osimhen signed a contract extension with Napoli until 2027, and had attracted significant interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Additionally, there were reports of a substantial offer from Al Ahli, to which Napoli had requested further compensation, leading to complications in the negotiations.
