Former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed sadness over the death of an energy expert, Da Yohanna Dalyop.
OsunDailyNG reports that Buhari, in a statement on Thursday, described the deceased as a valued friend whom he had known for decades.
The ex-president praised Dalyop’s contributions to alternative energy research, noting his dedication to developing sustainable energy solutions for homes and institutions in Nigeria.
Buhari joined the family, friends, and professional colleagues of the late pastor and engineer in mourning and also extended his condolences to the government and people of Plateau State.
He said, “With the demise of Yohanna Dalyop, I have lost a valued friend, whom I have had the honour of knowing for decades. His insight on issues and nuanced understanding of matters, especially energy, had very few parallels.
“Yohanna dedicated much of his energy and time to the research and development of alternative energy sources.
“He was a great statesman and a towering intellectual. His passing away is very saddening.”
Meanwhile, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a libel suit against Bashir Ahmad, former Special Assistant on Digital Communication to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
OsunDailyNG understands that the lawsuit, brought before the High Court of Enugu State, accuses Ahmad of defamation and terrorism-related allegations.
Kanu’s legal team, led by his Special Counsel Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, stated in the claim that Ahmad made defamatory remarks on January 19, 2025, which were published on X (formerly Twitter) and republished on Talkofnaija.com and phoenix-browser.com.
Ahmad’s statement reportedly read: “Anybody advocating for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, a terrorist and the leader of the proscribed terrorist organization IPOB, should be considered a sworn enemy of this country.”
Kanu, who is seeking ₦100 billion in damages, asserts that Ahmad’s statements were defamatory and malicious.
