Thirty-six states in Nigeria are on the verge of slipping into comatose with rising unemployment, hunger, involuntary emigration (Japa) and the spread of illicit economic activities, a report shows.
Pcl State Performance Index report disclosed this in its recent survey.
According to the report, unemployment is the highest risk factor states must address to achieve noticeable growth.
The report added that there is a lack of food security as hunger bites across the spectrum in most states in Nigeria.
“Medium-Risk Factors: Collapse of public institutions (52 per cent), the proliferation of illicit economic activities (49 per cent), and large-scale involuntary emigration (Japa) (46 per cent).
“Low-Risk Factors: Spread of infectious diseases (31 per cent), collapse of public institutions (25 per cent), and large-scale involuntary emigration (20 per cent),” the report stated.
