Suspected bandits ambushed and brutally killed two immigration officers at the Kangiwa border in the Arewa local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attackers launched a deadly assault on the officers at the entry point in Gari Garba, approximately 12 kilometers away from Kangiwa town.
The victims, identified as Isah Nafui (DSI 34057) and Garba Haruna Fana (NIS 17796), were on duty at the border, when they tragically lost their lives in the unprovoked attack.
The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, released a statement through its Kebbi State Command Public Relations Officer, DSI Abdullahi Isah, confirming the incident and the subsequent burial of the deceased officers in accordance with Islamic rites.
The authorities revealed that an investigation has been promptly initiated to apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
While mourning the loss of the gallant officers, the command stated its commitment to maintaining border security and preventing criminal elements from infiltrating the region.
The statement conveyed the resolve of the NIS not to be deterred by such attacks, reiterating their dedication to safeguarding the borders and ensuring the safety of the nation.
