Ondo State Redemption Initiative (OSRI), a socio-political group, has expressed concern over the actions of certain individuals in Ondo State who are allegedly making moves to thwart the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the political crisis in the state.

A joint statement issued by the group and signed by its chairman, Pastor Adebayo Ogunsanmi, secretary, and publicity secretary, respectively, Jide Oriola and Sunday Ayeni, alleged that some individuals purportedly supporting the deputy governor have openly rejected the peaceful solution put forward by the president.

DAILY POST recalls that Tinubu had intervened in the crisis when he summoned some stakeholders in the state to the presidential villa, where resolutions were reached over the issue.

The crisis in the state became full-blown following the continued absence of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu from the state over ill health and the plot to impeach his deputy.

According to the group, Aiyedatiwa’s supporters have allegedly engaged prominent lawyers to advocate for the implementation of the doctrine of necessity.

OSRI maintained that there was an underground ploy to declare Akeredolu incapacitated and to make his deputy the acting governor.

The group stressed that the actions of Aiyedatiwa’s supporters undermined the efforts made by Tinubu to foster reconciliation and unity among the warring factions.

“We are very aware that it was true that Aiyedatiwa was asked to sign an undated letter of resignation in the Abuja resolution in the presence of the president,” OSRI stated.

However, the Ondo State League of Young Professionals has described this as false.

The group’s spokesperson, Olaleye Akinola, said: “In fact, up till now, the deputy governor is the only party man that has not been making any public statements on the outcome of the meeting, unlike others who were part of the meeting.”
