The Katsina State Government has extended financial assistance to families affected by the rrecent bandits attack in Danmusa local government area, which reportedly claimed the lives of eight individuals.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons, Alhaji Saidu Ibrahim Danja, disclosed that the state government had so far disbursed over N50 million to victims of banditry across the state.

According to him, funds were disbursed to empower widows who lost their husbands in the attacks.

Danja disclosed this while disbursing another N4.2 million to assist families of both security personnel and civilians who lost their lives as well as those who sustained injuries during the recent attacks in Danmusa LGA.

During the disbursement event, held at Government Secondary School Yantumaki on Thursday,
the state government allocated N500,000 to families of security agents who lost their lives, while families of other victims received two hundred thousand naira each. The individuals who regained their freedom from captivity were granted N150,000 each.

The government also covered the medical expenses for the injured and provided them with an additional N50,000 each as a gesture of support.

While expressing condolences and sympathy on behalf of the governor, Danja reiterated that the financial aid is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the victims, stressing that it was not compensation.

Emphasising the stateโ€™s stance against banditry, Danja cautioned against youth involvement as informants while acknowledging the support of vigilante groups in assisting security personnel.

Also, speaking at the event, the chairman of Danmusa LGA, Alhaji Sanusi Dangi Abbas, while acknowledging the importance of community involvement in security matters, emphasised that security should not be left to government alone.
