Governor-elect Umar Mohammed Bago of Niger has approved the governorship inauguration subcommittees.
A statement by Mohammed Santuraki, chairman of the inauguration committee, disclosed that Mr Bago approved nine inauguration subcommittees.
The are security, health and safety, venue, accommodation, transport and logistics, inauguration lecture, protocol, welfare and entertainment and special events subcommittees.
The subcommittees are expected to liaise, synchronise, and work with the relevant counterpart government committees and other organs or functionaries to facilitate and celebrate a smooth and peaceful power transfer.
โA peaceful leadership transition is a significant hallmark of a democracy. Details of the inauguration Programme of activities shall be announced at a later date,โ said the statement. โThe governor-elect looks forward to being joined by members of our party and other stakeholders, our numerous supporters and Nigerlites at the inauguration events.โ
The statement urged the committee members to contact the inauguration committeeโs secretary, Zainab Gogo-Halilu, on 0706 686 0662 for details regarding their documentation.
The subcommitteesโ heads are Majid Ali (chairman, security subcommittee), Ahmed Sharu (vice-chairman), Baro (secretary); Chindo Ibrahim Bisalla (chairman, health and safety subcommittee); Bello Tukur (vice-chairman), Adam Ahmed Shehu (secretary); and Ramatu Yarโadua (chairwoman, venue subcommittee), Suleiman Umar (co-chair), Binta Mamman (vice-chairwoman), Baba Alhaji Ndaman (secretary).
Others are the accommodation subcommittee: Abdullakeem Oshinuga (chairman), Hussaini Ndayako (vice-chairman), Baba Ahmed Yumu (co-vice-chairman), Fati Baba Mustapha (secretary), transport and logistics subcommittee: Umar Nagogo (chairman), Hannafi Jantabo (vice-chairman), Saโidu Salisu Njaga (secretary); and the inauguration lecture subcommittee: A. B. Ahmed (chairman), Nasiru Maiturare (vice-chairman), Shaba Mohammed Etsu (secretary), Mohammed Kudu Abubakar (NTA) (co-secretary/member).
The protocol subcommittee is chaired by Abdullahi Baba Arah, with Abdullahi Yerima (vice-chairman), Habiba Lamido (co-vice-chairwoman), and Ibrahim Inga (secretary). The welfare and entertainment subcommittee has Hanau Salihu (chairman), Amina Musa Guar (co-chair), Ladidi Kata (vice-chair), Ibrahim Abdul Hamid Muller (secretary), and Fati Abubakar (co-secretary).
