Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe has urgedย residents of the stateย to be law-abiding, while celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.
Mr Yahaya spoke with reporters shortly after an Eid-el-Kabir reception on Wednesday, in Gombe.
โAs we celebrate Sallah, I urge the residents of Gombe to be law-abiding and also obey the traffic rules and regulations for a hitch-free festival.
โThe motorists, as well as those trekking on the road, should ensure that they obey traffic rulesย because we can only celebrate when we are alive and healthy,โ he said.
The governor also called on the public to pray for Nigeria and all the elected leaders to overcome the challenges facing the country.
โI am calling on the public to provide support to the leaders so that the country can reach itsย destinationย and overcome its enormous challenges,โ he said.
Mr Yahaya said President Bola Tunubu had shown capacity, the way, and the zeal to deliver andย tackle the challenges bedevilling the country.
He said all hands must be on deck to enable the President and other elected leadersย to deliver.
โWe pray to God to give us the energy, resources and zeal to contribute our quotasย for a better Nigeria with peace and tranquillity,โ he said.
The governor observed the two rakat prayers at the Central praying ground alongside the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar III,ย and other government officials.
