Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the civil service.

He conveyed his displeasure at the Government House in Jalingo during the weekend while receiving the report from a committee appointed by the state government to screen and select a substantive Head of Civil Service.

Observing a perceived slumber in the State Civil Service, Kefas issued a stern warning to civil servants, urging them to rise to their responsibilities.

He assured that the committeeโ€™s report would not be overlooked, revealing plans to transform it into a โ€˜Responsive Civil Service Monitoring team.โ€™

This team, as announced by him, will be tasked with identifying areas for training and capacity-building for civil servants.

To facilitate the work of the monitoring team, the governor directed the provision of office accommodation and vehicles, assigning a six-month duration for their assignment.

Governor Kefas initiated the committee on January 5, 2024, with the mandate to screen and recommend candidates for the appointment of the Head of Civil Service in the State.

The committeeโ€™s scrutiny of permanent secretaries led to the submission of its report, paving the way for the appointment of a substantive Head of Civil Service following the conclusion of Suzy Jemima Nathanโ€™s contract.
