In a significant gathering at the Ilesa Diocese Heritage City, Oke Iyanu Boluwaduro Quarters, Ilesa, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator (Dr) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe, delivered an inspiring address at the 2nd session of the 17th Synod of the Ilesa Diocese.
Opening his address, the Governor expressed his honour in participating in this distinguished gathering, emphasising the importance of the annual synod in rejuvenating the relationship between the community and Almighty God. He applauded the Bishop of Ilesa Diocese, Rt. Rev Professor Dapo Asaju, the clergy, and the laity for upholding the tradition and requirements of the annual synods, highlighting the opportunity it presents for reflection and planning under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Governor Adeleke acknowledged the church’s critical role in not only fostering the spiritual growth of its followers but also contributing to the physical well-being and welfare of Nigerians at large. Despite facing challenges, the church continues to influence policies, mould opinions, and make critical interventions that shape the growth and development of the country. The Governor pointed to the theme of the synod, “Divine Jubilee – Godโs plan for freedom,” as a testament to the church’s pivotal role.
Addressing the congregation, Governor Adeleke emphasised the significance of making the right choices, both in leadership and daily life. He reminded everyone that the consequences of our choices, whether in this life or the hereafter, are a direct result of our decisions on earth. With a heartfelt appeal, he urged the people to choose leaders wisely, affirming his administration’s commitment to leading with the fear of God and with the welfare of the people at heart. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the state and the nation, calling for prayers and unwavering support from the community.
In closing, Governor Adeleke congratulated the participants of the 17th Synod and expressed his wishes for a fruitful deliberation that would not only edify the body of Christ but also contribute positively to humanity.
