Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria, MEMAN, has initiated a process of exchanging petrol to address the widespread petrol shortage across the country.

Clement Isong, the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Secretary of MEMAN, disclosed this in a statement.

โ€œAll are lifting and sharing in swaps to kill the queues. Since last Sunday, a lot has been done to eliminate queues as quickly as possible.

โ€œMany of our members have been lifting the product.

โ€œWe have even put in place an arrangement that enables those without the product to borrow from those that have it.

โ€˜โ€™With this understanding among our members, everyone now has the product to enhance distribution in all parts of Nigeria. We work late every day to end this shortage,โ€ the statement said.

OsunDailyNG reported that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, had said that the current scarcity of petrol may last for two more weeks.

The Public Relations Officer of IPMAN, Chinedu Ukadike, stated this on Sunday while reacting to the lingering scarcity of the product as it spreads to many states.

Ukadike said that the product is currently not available in the country, saying it is a challenge sourcing it because most refineries in Europe are undergoing turnaround maintenance.
