A few days before the anticipated Qatar 2022 tournament is set to begin, certain predicted African sides will not be seen among the 32 teams.

Some African players with high hopes of giving the football community a good show for their money could not make it past the qualifying stage with the national teams.

Four days remain before the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, and anticipation levels are high as fans prepare to see their favourite players play world-class football.

OsunDaily News, however, looks at 5 prominent African players missing in Qatar 2022

Riyad Mahrez (Algeria)

Manchester City winger is another face to miss at the World Cup tournament this season, although the forward just jumped out from a poor form which could have been a good space to even prove himself to Pep Guardiola at the World cup.

The Algerians failed to qualify for the World Cup tournament in Qatar after being defeated by the Indomitable Lions.

Mohamed Salah (Egypt)

The Liverpool forward who finished strong last time out in the Premier League would have gotten a good chance to continue from where he left off at the World Cup tournament in Qatar.

However, Senegal, the defending AFCON champions, proved to be a tough nut to crack as they prevented Egypt from earning a fourth World Cup spot.

Victor Osimhen (Nigeria)

With nine goals, the Super Eagles striker is now leading the Napoli top scorerโ€™s table and enjoying a remarkable season.

Osimhen and his Super Eagles colleagues were defeated by the Black stars of Ghana in the playoffs, thus regrettably, they wonโ€™t be in Qatar.

Wilfred Zaha (Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire)

Crystal Palaceโ€™s Wilfried Zaha will miss the 2022 World Cup after Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire yet again failed to progress through the World Cup Qualifiers.

The Ivorians debuted at the 2006 World Cup and continued to compete in the 2010 and 2014 editions.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon)

After enjoying a fruitful professional career with Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, and Barcelona, Auba, 33, now plays for Chelsea.

Gabon failed to make it again to Qatar 2022 after losing their World cup qualifying tickets to defeats

The greatest way for him to complete his career would have been to participate in the World Cup, but the striker hung up his boots for national football, which has hurt his chances of making the World Cup.

However, if the former Dortmund striker continues to represent his nation, he may have another opportunity to compete on the world stageโ€”this time at the age of 37.
