The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi has faulted the money allocated to the office of the First Lady by President Bola Tinubuโ€™s administration.

Obi said the duty of Tinubuโ€™s wife, Remi, is to take care of her husband because the Office of the First Lady is unconstitutional.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Obi said money allocated to the Office of the First Lady should be redirected to girl-child education.

According to Obi: โ€œFirst Ladyโ€™s office is not in our Constitution, all the monies allocated to the unconstitutional Office of the First Lady should have been transferred to educating and caring for the girl-child. The First Ladyโ€™s job is to look after the husband and work with him to ensure everything works well.โ€

In the 2023 Supplementary Budget proposed by President Bola Tinubu, the sum of N1.5 billion was earmarked for vehicles for the Office of the First Lady, N5 billion on a presidential yacht, and another N12.5 billion on the Presidential Air Fleet.

There were campaigns on social media to stop the National Assembly from approving the Supplementary Budget; however, the bill was given speedy approval.
