Fรฉdรฉration internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has created a new social media protection service to safeguard football players.
In order to stop players from the 32 World Cup countries from being flooded with hostile social media messages after matches, FIFA launched a new social media protection service.
When using their phones in the locker rooms after games, players at the tournament wonโt be able to view offensive texts, according to FIFA.
A Fulham attacker, Willian wrote in a press release, โI am supporting this campaign because I was in Brazil a year ago, and I was suffering a lot, and my family were suffering a lot because people started attacking us on social media, attacking my family, my daughters, and thatโs why Iโm standing now with FIFA to see if you can stop these kind of things that make me feel, sometimes, sad,โ
The programme, which according to FIFA can instantaneously filter โabusive, discriminatory, and threatening commentsโ on social media platforms, will be available to players from all 32 teams.
The FIFA president said, โI think it will help a lot, for sure, because some players look at it and they donโt care.โ
โSome of them look and start being sad, they start to change, the playerโs performance starts to go down because of this situation. So, I think it will help a lot,โ he added.
