The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has questioned the recent declaration by the Federal Government that it has saved $20 billon from its controversial fuel subsidy removal and naira floating policies.

OsunDailyNG reports that the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, on Monday, had disclosed that Nigeria had saved $20bn from President Bola Tinubuโ€™s economic reforms and market-based pricing of the foreign exchange rate.

Reacting to the governmentโ€™s declaration during an interview with Punch, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, described Edunโ€™s claim as โ€˜too porousโ€™ for Nigerians to believe.

He insisted that the submission was a lie from the pit of hell.

Abdullahi argued that the report did not add up for a government that was breathing heavily down the neck of the National Assembly for loan approval.

He said, โ€œIt doesnโ€™t even justify the attention of anybody who wants to give that narrative any attention. It is pedestrian. It is the normal lies that the APC throws around. This one is a lie from the pit of hell. It is an insult to our sensibilities as Nigerians.

โ€œHow could the same government that has run three budgets concurrently in the calendar year with the amount of confusion in the land, poverty, untold hardship, insecurity and the frightening inflation that is unprecedented in Nigeriaโ€™s history, turn around and tell us that within the period, they have saved that amount of money.

โ€œNow, why do you now need to go cap in hand seeking loans to be able to fund your projects? You should have used the same resources that you have saved, which would even add up to common sense. This government has taken Nigeria for a ride for too long and I am happy with the way Nigerians are waking up to reality.โ€

The PDP spokesman warned that the masses had learned to look beyond the alleged shenanigans of the present administration.

โ€œNigerians are no longer taking them seriously. They are only waiting for divine grace to get these people out of the way. These people in government came there unprepared, and they are demonstrating every day that they are truly disconnected from reality.

โ€œBut as a Nigerian, and as one who speaks for the major opposition party, I can tell you that anywhere you go, the groaning in the land and the frustration that has taken over the livelihood of Nigerians will not allow Nigerians to identify with these people, whatever their intention,โ€ he added.
