The federal government has signed $2 billion business deals with Chinese partners to boost science, engineering and infrastructural development at the sideline of the ongoing 3rd Belt and Road Initiative Forum in Beijing.

Khalil Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, disclosed this on Thursday in a statement by Segun Ayeoyenikan, the Agencyโ€™s Director of Information.

Halilu, who is part of Nigeriaโ€™s delegation to the forum led by the Vice President, Kasim Shettima, explained that the business deals significantly impact the Nationโ€™s development.

He said, โ€œThis is a very important day for us at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, because it is a day to show the results of some of the work that we have been doing in the last six weeks since I assumed the leadership of NASENI.

โ€œCollectively, these three MOUs will, upon implementation, deliver Two Billion USD worth of new investments in Nigeria that will translate into jobs, skills development and technology transfer, potential exports and foreign exchange earnings, and a boost to local economies.

โ€œThe three Chinese companies that signed MOUs to partner with NASENI and invest in Nigeria are:

โ€œShanghai Launch Automotive Technical Co Ltd โ€“ an MOU to establish a new energy automobile facility for the production of new energy electric vehicles;

โ€œChina Great Wall Industry Corporation- an MOU for the turnkey delivery of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) assembly line projects;
โ€œNewway Power Technology Company Ltd โ€“ an MOU for transferring technology on lithium batteries, electric vehicles and allied technologiesโ€.
