The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, in Abuja on Wednesday, deliberated on the draft 2023 budget estimates.
The FEC meeting, which is being held virtually at the Council Chambers of the presidential villa in Abuja, is currently going on while some members are in physical attendance.
Among those attending the meeting physically are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan; and Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
Also present are Ministers of Justice Abubakar Malami; Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami; Finance Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello and Education, Adamu Adamu.
Others are Ministers of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire; Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama; Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq as well as Ministers of State for Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri, Budget and National Planning Clement Agba and Environment, Udi Odum.
Other cabinet members are participating virtually from their respective offices in Abuja.
The President will present the N19.76 trillion 2023 budget to the joint National Assembly legislature on Friday.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, at the plenary yesterday, said that the presentation would take place at 10:00 am at the temporary chamber of the House of Representatives.
The letter on the budget presentation by President Buhari was personally written by him and read in Plenary yesterday by the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan.
