As preparations are in top gear for the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhariโ€˜s successor, several individuals have continued to lobby for various positions in the incoming administration.

OsunDaily News gathered that the immediate former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has joined the race for lobbying for a ministerial appointment in the incoming cabinet of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

It was learnt that a party source told Sahara Reporters that the former Ekiti State governor is lobbying for the position of foreign affairs minister.

The source said Fayemi, who was Tinubuโ€™s anointed candidate for the governorship election in Ekiti in 2007, was leaving no stone unturned as far as lobbying for the appointment is concerned.

According to the source, โ€œKayode Fayemi has joined others to start lobbying for appointment in Tinubuโ€™s administration. He is hustling to become the foreign affairs minister.

โ€œThe former governor is leaving no stone unturned to actualise his ambition to be part of the federal cabinet.โ€

It would be recalled that similarly other governors have also been said to be lobbying for other positions including National Security Adviser, finance minister among others.

It was learnt that a party source who pleaded anonymity told Sahara Reporters that โ€œKano Governor Ganduje wants to be the Federal Capital Territory minister, El-Rufai wants the NSA (National Security Adviser) position, Fashola and Gbajabiamila want the Chief of Staff position.

โ€œWale Edun wants to be the Minister of Finance while Governor Bagudu wants to be the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.โ€

The development comes barely two weeks after President Buhari signed a bill that requires the president and governors to submit the names of persons nominated as ministers or commissioners within 60 days of taking the oath of office for confirmation by the Senate or state house of Assembly.

Tinubu would be sworn in as president to take over from Buhari on May 29, 2023.
