The Super Falconsโ€™ Gift Monday is pleased to have participated in her first Womenโ€™s World Cup game in the tournament which is ongoing in Australia and New Zealand.

While expressing her excitement for making his debut against the Republic of Ireland on July 31, She stressed that she aims to help the Super Falcons go beyond the quarter-finals, which is the farthest the team has ever gone in the history of the tournament.

In the ongoing tournament, the Super Falcons have already made some great strides one of which is being the first African nation to advance through the group stage unbeaten.

Nigeria won their opening game 3-2 against co-hosts Australia, drew 0-0 with Canada to take control of their fate, and then play a 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland on Monday in their last group match.

Randy Waldrumโ€™s women finished the first round in second place with five points, one point behind the co-hosts Australia, who also defeated Canada 4-0 in their final group match to advance alongside Nigeria.

The 21-year-old Gift Monday, who missed the first two games of the competition, is already looking forward to making history with the Super Falcons after playing against the Irish team in the last group game.

She said, โ€œI am so happy to make my debut. Personally, coming into the World Cup, my target was to go far in the World Cup than any other set did. It is my first World Cup, so, I need to make good use of it and make it memorable.โ€

She added, โ€œAs a team, we were preparing well, we did not just relax and feel like we were going to get everything on a platter of gold. All thanks to my teammates, everyone just came out and played their hearts out.โ€

Gift Monday is likely to start from the bench when the Super Falcons take on England in the quarter-final round on Monday, August 7. The kick-off time is 8:30 a.m.
