Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus on Wednesday felicitated with governors elected on the platform of the nation’s main opposition party who were conferred with National Honours in Abuja on Tuesday.
OsunDaily News reported earlier that President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday bestowed prestigious awards on notable personalities at the International Conference Center in Abuja.
Amongst those awarded is the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP and sitting Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, and Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku.
Also on the award list is the PDP Minority Leader, Hon. Ndidu Elumelu, and some other members of the party.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Secondus who serves as the Technical Adviser to the PDPโs Presidential Campaign Council said the party chieftains merited the awards given to them by President Buhari.
According to him, the individuals merited the awards having conducted themselves in personal and public lives as disciplined and responsible leaders of society.
Secondus added that the award of the National Honours by the country showed recognition of their innate quality and prayed to God to continue to be their guide.
From the list of over four hundred awardees of the national honours, six were bestowed with Grand Commanders of the Order of the Niger, 55 Commanders of the Order of the Federal Republic, 74 Members of the Order of the Federal Republic, and 77 Officers of the Order of the Federal Republic, OsunDaily News reports.
Others comprised 110 Officers of the Order of the Niger, 55 Members of the Order of the Niger, 65 Commanders of the Order of the Niger, Four Federal Republic Medal- First Class and Four Federal Republic Medal- Second Class.
