Former Governor of Nasarawa State, Umar Tanko Almakura and another Deputy Governor of the state, Labaran Maku have stormed the Court of Appeal in Abuja to witness judgment delivery in the gubernatorial election dispute for the state.
While Almakura is on the side of the incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule, Maku led a team for David Emmanuel Ombugadu to observe the proceedings.
Sule is of the All Progressives Congress APC, the platform he used to stand for the March 18 poll, while Ombugadu opposed him on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
Aside from the duo, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, accompanied by the state APC Chairman and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Labaran Shuaib, have also arrived in the courtroom.
Apparently acting on strict orders, policemen manning the courtโs main entrance, denied unaccredited politicians in the entourage of the former Governor, Almakura, and former Deputy Governor Maku access.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere appears tense between the camps of Governor Sule and his challengers as the usual throwing of banters by politicians is missing.
A Tribunal had on October 2 annulled the election of the governor on account of malpractices and irregularities said to have been perpetrated during the collations of the election results.
