With two more games to end the group stage matches, Fenerbahçe, Freiburg, Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Rennes have already qualified for the round of 16 in the competition.
Fenerbahçe had won their last match against AEK Larnaca, beating them 2-1 on goals. Freiburg thrashed Nantes 4-0, Real Sociedad won 3-0 against Sheriff, Real Betis drew 1-1 with Roma, and Rennes defeated Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 to advance to the next phase of the Europa League despite two more matches ahead.
On matchday four, Manchester United in a dramatic moment defeated Omonoia 1-0 at Old Trafford, thanks to Scott McTominay’s late-minute goal.
OsunDaily News understands that Omonoia held the host team to draw throughout the first and second half of the game on Thursday, despite a series of shots and efforts from Red Devils’ players until the 93minutes when McTominay latched on to Jadon Sancho’s ball to break the efforts of the visiting teams’ brilliant goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho.
Arsenal, on the other hand, defeated Bodø/Glimt 0-1 in an away Europa League clash, courtesy of Bukayo Saka who finished off a neat move to maintain the Gunners’ perfect Group A start.
The Europa League match-day five fixtures will commence on October 27. Meanwhile, Arsenal and PSV have an outstanding match to play on October 20 at the Emirates Stadium.
