Former Premier League star Emile Heskey has backed Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney to succeed as head coach of English Championship club Birmingham City.
Birmingham parted ways with John Eustace on Monday with Rooney expected to take over after he recently left Major League Soccer side DC United.
They are currently sixth in Englandโs second tier as Rooney looks to guide them back into the English Premier League (EPL).
Rooney had a spell in charge of Derby County after retiring as a professional footballer.
The former striker now has several years of management under his belt.
โI think Wayne Rooney has done really well in management,โ Heskey, a former Liverpool striker, told BoyleSports.
โIโd support him being the manager of Birmingham due to his profile and status in the game.
โHeโll, of course, need to deliver results, but having a figure like him at the club would bring a lot of attention.โ
He added: โI think Wayne has done great and heโs always done well with the resources heโs been given. He went through a lot at Derby, but I think he did well and he dealt with the pressure well.โ
