The Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ebenezer Boluwade, has charged members of staff to re-double their efforts to enable the ministry to achieve its mandate in the new year.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti during his first meeting with management and staff of the ministry in 2024, Boluwade explained that a 70 per cent minimum work ratio was targeted for the ministry in 2024, stressing that each department must align its work plan to the specified period.
The commissioner maintained that all assignments must be completed within 24 hours, unless otherwise stated, to enable the ministry to meet the set target.
Boluwade, who advised the staff to work as a team, noted that no files, however voluminous, should be left unattended to within 24 hours of receipt.
The commissioner assured the staff that a proposed agriculture website would be created this year to let Ekiti people know what the ministry had done in the area of agriculture and the opportunities available for them to benefit from.
In his remarks, the permanent secretary of the ministry, Olugbenga Odesanmi, advised the staff on some points to follow for them to achieve success, such as a performance review of past works, among others.
Earlier, some of the officers itemised their challenges to include obsolete office equipment such as desktops, laptops, and printers and an inadequate number of utility vehicles to convey field officers to operations, which the commissioner said would be addressed in due course.
