Nigerian heavyweight boxer Efe Ajagba says he aims to become the next world heavyweight champion from Nigeria in no distant future.

To get a step closer to achieving that, Efe Ajagba who is currently 29-year-old has to beat Zhan Kossobutskiy at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa in Catoosa, Oklahoma on August 26.

โ€œThis is a great test for me as I continue my quest to become Nigeriaโ€™s next heavyweight champion,โ€ Ajagba said.

โ€œI am coming to Tulsa to secure a devastating knockout and remind everyone of what I am capable of doing inside the ring.โ€

The 10-round heavyweight bout will be broadcast live as the co-feature of the program that also features Anderson vs. Rudenko as the main event on ESPN.

The first match on the broadcast pits fellow Nigerian Onoriode Ehwarieme against Olympic gold medalist Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan. The heavyweight division bout is expected to last for eight rounds.

Efe Ajagba, a 2016 Olympian has established a reputation as one of the divisionโ€™s most potent punchers with 13 knockouts in 17 fights.

The 6-foot-6-inch tall, 240-pound Nigerian boxer won six of his first eight fights via first-round knockout after making his professional debut in July 2017.

Ajagba suffered his first defeat against Frank Sanchez in October 2021. After the loss, he had an elbow surgery.

He triumphantly returned in August 2022 and defeated seasoned Hungarian boxer Jozsef Darmos in the second round. The Nigeria boxer recently won a 10-round decision against previously unbeaten rival Stephan Shaw.
