South-South leader, Edwin Clark, has criticized the eight-year administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Nigeria.
The statesman dismissed the Buhari-led government as biased, unjust, nepotistic, uncivil, and characterized by religious bigotry.
Clark made his views known in response to Buhari’s self-praise during the public presentation of Femi Adesina’s book, “Working with Buhari: Reflections of A Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023).”
Clark argued that the majority of Nigerians consider Buhari’s tenure a failure, contrary to Buhari’s positive assessment of his presidency.
According to him, “Buhari’s administration led the country backwards by five decades, the prevalent issues of insecurity, economic collapse, injustice, religious bias, and a lack of direction.”
Clark explained the discrepancy between Buhari’s declaration in his inaugural speech that he “belongs to everybody” and the actions of his administration throughout his eight-year regime in the country.
He observed that Buhari’s appointments, especially in the security sector, were largely based on one section of the country, contradicting the notion that he belonged to the entire nation.
Clark emphasized, “He belongs to some people but not the entire Nigeria,” challenging the authenticity of Buhari’s claim of being a leader for all.
