The Labour Party, LP, approved a slight adjustment in its guidelines ahead of the Edo State governorship primary election.
The adjustment followed the outcome of the meeting of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, on Friday.
This was made known in a statement issued on Friday by Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party.
Ifoh said the sale of forms earlier slated to end on Saturday, February 10, is now shifted to Monday, February 12, while the governorship primaries, earlier fixed for February 22, will now be held on February 23.
According to him, the leadership of the party similarly adjusted the guidelines for the emergence of the candidate for the election.
He explained that the leadership of the party increased the number of local government delegates from five to seven in all 18 LGAs.
Ifoh noted that the party, in taking the decision, listened to submissions from the various stakeholders of the party, including the members of the National Assembly, elders, and leaders of the party in the state.
He said they all agreed to increase the number of delegates to ensure more participation and democratisation of the exercise.
The party further pledged to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants, insisting it would not in any way interfere in the process leading to the emergence of its flag bearer.
