The Ebonyi State Government has vowed to clamp down on landlords building houses in the capital city without approval papers.
Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Development Sunday Inyima made this known while briefing newsmen shortly after an inspection at King David Estate, Abakaliki.
He stated the ministryโs readiness to ensure that all buildings constructed within the city meet specifications and are approved by the ministry.
Inyima then tasked all landlords with getting approval before construction to enable the state government to know that their buildings were of good standard to avert collapse.
According to him: โWe embarked on an inspection of buildings in the capital city to ensure that they complied with the specifications of the ministry of capital city and urban development.
โWe want to make sure that the buildings are properly approved, and that they comply with the regulations, and with the drawing that was so approved by the ministry. We are doing a random check to make sure that what is on ground complies directly and holistically with what is on the drawing.โ
