Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have occupied the Lagos State Assembly premises, where members of the Nigeria Labour Congress are currently protesting.

OsunDailyNG reports that this comes after angry protesters pulled down the gate of the National Assembly in Abuja to gain entrance into the complex.

NLC, who had occupied the National Assembly building, had pleaded with the security officer to open the gate and allow angry workers to express their displeasure, but their refusal led to violence.

However, in photos shared online, DSS operatives were seen on the premises of the Lagos State Assembly complex as demonstrators gathered at the gateโ€™s entrance.

The move might be a possible means to stop any attempt at the destruction of government properties or violence in the area.

OsunDailyNGย reports that an NLC leader stated this during the protest which started under Ikeja under-bridge in Lagos.

NLC had given the government a seven-day ultimatum with threats of a nationwide strike scheduled to commence on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Speaking in the video, the NLC leader said that the cost of living has gone up, and people are dying out of hunger.
