A former Director-General of Peter Obi 2023 presidential campaign council, Doyin Okupe has paid a visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
OsunDailyNG reports that Okupe, a former presidential aide, meet with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
Details of the meeting between the duo has not been disclosed as at the time of this report.
Meanwhile, Okupe has recently applauded President Tinubuโs recent cabinet reshuffle, particularly his decision to scrap what he termed โsuperfluous ministries.โ
Speaking in an interview last Thursday in Lagos, Okupe highlighted the strategic role played by global auditing firm KPMG in the process that led to the dismissal of some ministers.
He said, โPresident Tinubu has done the needful by his mid-term rejig of his cabinet. Scrapping superfluous ministries is in line with removing waste and making government compact and effective. This is commendable.
โFor the first time, removal of ministers from the cabinet has not been arbitrary or sentimental, apart from an in-house key performance index report.
โKPMG is also said to be involved in critical performance assessment of the ministers.โ
According to the politician, Nigerians expect the president and his new cabinet to pull up their bootstrings and address the nationโs issues.
He expressed hope in President Tinubuโs โRenewed Hope Agendaโ to reposition the country.
