Our attention has been drawn to a baseless mischief being peddled by some lazy busybodies, stylishly seeking attention by accusing the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke of deliberately excluding some persons from what appeared to them as compensation for one time caretaker committee headed by Dr Akindele Adekunle, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health.
Although, such roadside ‘mechanics’ oiling such wheels of mischief, by all standing and intents, deserve none of our attention but for the sake of unsuspecting members of the public. We therefore feel obliged to make the following clarifications
The national office of our party early in the year 2022, constituted a caretaker committee toย oversee affairs of the PDP in the state. This was at a time the party required all hands to be on deck for processes leading to the election of a candidate for the party prior to the July 16 2022 Governorship Election.
It is also on record that both Messrs Rasak Oyelami and Adetoye Ogungboyega unequivocally rejected their appointments as members of the caretaker committee.
All entreaties made to both individuals to see reason to work together for the actualization of the party common goal were vehemently rebuffed. Things got to a head that both men instituted litigation against the party, asking the court to pronounce the caretaker committee illegal as constituted by the national office.
The national office had no choice than to ratify their exclusion from the caretaker committee, respecting the constitutional right of both men to either accept or reject such an offer of their appointments. They declined the offer and were NEVER inaugurated. Their names are as good as non-existent in the records of our party as caretaker committee members.
Therefore, both Messrs Rasak Oyelami and Adetoye Ogungboyega were NEVER part of the caretaker committee of the party headed by the now Hon Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr Akindele Adekunle. Their names were duly expunged as willfully requested and as evident in the court processes they instituted against the party.
It is therefore erroneous and mere attention seeking for those peddling accusations of exclusion of both men from the compensation table of the state Governor.
While it remains the prerogative of His Excellency to appoint people into his government, it is however a classless lie that the Governor has front loaded all the caretaker committee members into his government.
As a government of due process, some of the then caretaker committee members who found their ways into the list of appointee so far, are committed leaders of the party who were duly nominated from their various wards and constituencies as requested by the large hearted leader of the party, His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.
It must be noted that the governor or our great party have nothing against the two individuals being used as bait for seeking the government’s attention. We however admonish stakeholders of the party to always toe the line of love and shun short time temptations of being tools in the hands of external forces, whose ultimate aim would always be to scuttle our chances at the poll.
