The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat is in court to witness the ruling of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on the outcome of the 2023 election in the state.

OsunDailyNG reports theย candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor and that of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in the March 18th Governorship Election in Lagos State are challenging the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the polls.

The petitioners are both seeking the order of the Court to declare them validly elected Governor of Lagos State based on the argument thatย Sanwo-Olu, was not validly elected as governor having not met the constitutional requirements needed to do so.

Ahead of todayโ€™s ruling by the tribunal,ย Hamzat is present in court along with several other party stalwarts at the Governorship election petition tribunal in Ikeja.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),ย Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election by a landslide, defeating Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, who came second.

Governor Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to beat Rhodes-Vivour, who scored 312,329 votes. Jide Adediran (Jandor) of the PDP came a distant third, polling 62,449 votes.
