The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals 650,000 barrels per day plant in Nigeria has purchased one million barrels of Agbami crude grade from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited, STASCO, after months of delays.

Also, the company revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited will supply the following four cargoes in two to three weeks while ExxonMobil will supply the final six cargoes.

The company disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

It stated that the first phase of the 6 million barrels of crude oil should sustain the initial 350,000 barrels per day.

โ€œThe STASCO cargo contained 1 million barrels from Agbami and sailed to Dangote Refineryโ€™s Single Point Mooring (SPM), which was discharged into the Refineryโ€™s crude oil tanks.

โ€œThe NNPC will supply the next four cargoes in two to three weeks, and ExxonMobil will supply the final of the six cargoesโ€, the statement partly reads.

DAILY POST recalls that on May 22 last year, former president Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the Dangote refinery, hoping to commence operation in July.

However, months after the inauguration, the RefineryRefinery failed to commence.

DAILY POST reports that the Executive Director of Dangote Group, Devakumar Edwin, says its Refinery will receive its first crude oil cargo and herald its operation in October 2023.

However, the Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Gbenga Komolafe, had expressed concerns over the inability of Dangote Refinery.
